About the store
Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Northfield is a contemporary clothing shop called Sisters Ugly. When you walk through its black door you will immediately understand what the fuss is about — it is like walking into a boutique on 50th and France, but your Blue Monday coffee is still steaming. Browse the racks and you will find brands such as Kenzie Girl, Miss Me, Beau Bois, For Love and Liberty, Hazel, Dex, Scrapbook, Minnetonka Moccasins, Goorin Brothers and Mattie M. They also carry Tano Handbags that are available only in select boutiques and premium denim such as 1921, Anoname, and J & Company.
Diane and Jenny Sinclair, co-owners and mother-daughter team from Prior Lake, felt that the vibrant community of Northfield would be a great place to begin their new venture. It would appear that others feel much the same way, as the overall feedback has been incredibly supportive. As an added bonus their target market is much broader than expected. Not only are teens, college students, and young adults frequenting Sisters Ugly but many of their moms and even a few grandmothers have become reoccurring customers. A delightful surprise that contradicted months of projections and market analysis.
